These tools are used in a sampling or experimental plan.<\/p>\n<h3>Learning objectives:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Theoretical learning outcomes:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of ecological mapping, georeferencing and telemetry methods.<br \/>\n\u2022 Acquiring knowledge about analysis of spatial distributions and spatial modelling (objectives, principles, field of application, implementation, interpretation of the results).<br \/>\n\u2022 Acquiring knowledge in database systems and to be able to use such systems.<br \/>\n\u2022 Acquiring concepts of metrology in the ecological field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical learning outcomes:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Building a Geographic Information System (QuantumGIS and interface with other GIS) using public databases, satellite data, and\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;font-size: 14px\">georeferenced <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">data from field sessions.<br \/>\n<\/span>\u2022 Using this GIS in order to plan a sampling field session.<br \/>\n\u2022 Applying spatial methods of data analysis (Quantum GIS and R software) and correctly interpret the results.<br \/>\n\u2022 Writing a concise and precise report concerning the collection and analysis of spatial ecological data.<br \/>\n\u2022 Assessing metrological quality of environmental data collected.<\/p>\n<h3>Prerequisites:<\/h3>\n<p>Knowledge of basic statistics, descriptive statistics, General Linear Models (GLM), anova,\u00a0\u03c7<sup>2<\/sup>, and non parametric statistics.<\/p>\n<h3>Teaching Methods:<\/h3>\n<p>Lectures, seminars, practicals<\/p>\n<h3>Assessment:<\/h3>\n<p>Reports on the content of the sessions, oral and written exams.<\/p>\n<h3>Recommended Reading:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bivand, R.S., Pebesma, E.J., Gomez-Rubio, V., 2013.
